The O'Dohertys are descended from Connall Gulbin, a Milesian prince from the royal house of Heremon who won the possession of Donegal at the beginning of the fifth century.
Connall's brother Eoghan, was the first born of the family. In maturity he conquered another Ulster county, Tir Eoghan which we call Tyrone today.
