This book follows the GWR, SR, LMS and LNER trains - and their predecessors,  through many different environments, including trains on the main line, nationwide shed visits, locos under repair, antique steam-age rolling stock on the Isle of Wight, rare colour photos of long-gone museum pieces, privately-owned locos on the main line, memories of farewell train journeys, former main-line locos working in industry, locos awaiting cutting for scrap, and visits to the North-West as steam was being wound down.
