Someone has said that almost all that Ireland possesses of picturesque beauty is to be found on, or in the immediate neighbourhood of, the seaboard; and if we except some brief patches of river scenery

Nineteenth-century Irish fiction has sometimes been unfairly neglected. This series aims to publish classic works which are not easily available elsewhere and whicj, as a set, represents some of the best of Irish writing in the nineteenth century.

Each novel includes an introduction by a contemporary Irish writer, and the text reproduced in all but one case is that of the first edition.

The novels in the series include: The Nowlans, Fardorougha the Miser, Ormond, The Collegians, Hurrish, The house by the Churchyard, A Drama in Muslin.
