One of the basic principles of An Gúim is to provide textbooks and general books for school children and readers of Irish. As part of his doctoral dissertation, author Seán Breandán Ó Súilleabháin studied the Gúm correspondence in the education files in the National Archives of Ireland, Bishop Street, Dublin.
