Monsignor Pdraig Fiannachta's love for the Irish language and Irish culture and folklore is evident in all that he does and says. He spent six years working as a teacher and priest in Wales before taking up the position of Professor of Early and Middle Irish and lecturer in Welsh in Maynooth College.

He went on to become Professor of Modern Irish before moving back to his native Dingle in Co. Kerry. He has written extensively on Irish folklore, edited countless books and also writes poetry. He also runs a cultural centre in West Kerry and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of local heritage and folklore! One of Pdraig's greatest achievements is An Bobla Naofa (1981), the Maynooth Irish Bible, of which he was editor and translator.
