John G. A. Prim (1821-1875) was one of the founders of the Kilkenny Archaeological Society in 1849. He served as Joint Honorary Secretary of the society, now called the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland unitl his death in 1975.
Conleth Manning grew up in Kilkenny and works as an archaeologist with Dúchas - The Heritage Service. He was the President of the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland when this book was reprinted in 2003 and produced the introduction as well as notes included in this edition
