Mother Ireland: Why Ireland Hates Motherhood
Mother Ireland asks many important questions about how Irish society sees mothers and how mothers see themselves and tries to provide some of the answers.
Like many of her generation, Victoria White got a strong message to repress her desire for children and devote herself to a career. She writes about herself and her generation and the previous generation that discovered feminism, as well as considering research from other countries, in her effort to understand why 'Mother' Ireland came to hate motherhood.
