For generations, stories of 'the fairies' have been filling the pages of Irish literature, as well as enriching a wealth of oral tradition. They could do no evil or good, depending on how mortals treated them, thus ensuring their place in Irish lore down through the ages.

Many were first told to the author at country firesides over half a century ago and, like a true storyteller, he has spiced his tales with humour and nostalgia, in this re-evocation of a special part of the Irish tradition.
