Part One of this two part series contains chapters 1-7 and the final chapter 18 of Michael Harkin’s Inishowen: It’s History, Traditions and Antiques first published in 1867.
The opening chapters sweep through Inishowen's ancient, medieval and modern history. We hear of the Tuatha De Danaan, Niall of the Nine Hostages and St. Columbkille. Accounts are given of the Viking raids, Strongbow and the final dismantling of Gaelic Ireland. We learn of its ancient and Christian archaeology, including the ancient Abbey at Fahan.
