Unless By Invitation looks at the new legislation and the attempts by An Garda Síochána to tackle crime in rural Ireland.

In 2004, Padraic Nally shot and killed a Traveller on his farm in Co. Mayo.

But while Nally's name is often cited in the media, his was by no means an isolated case.

Unless By Invitation examines the story in detail, tracing the early lives of Padraic Nally and John 'Frog' Ward; their meeting in Cross in October 2004; the court cases that followed; and the attempts by both families to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of Nally's retrial.

The book also examines several cases in rural Ireland since the early 1980's where elderly people living in isolated communities were targeted in their homes and in many caces died as a result of these attacks.
