Sailor, Airman, Spy, subtitled Memoir of a Cold War Veteran, is the memoir of Ted Hayes from Ballsbridge, Dublin who in the 1950s went to sea at the age of 17, then joined the Royal Air Force. How, later, he was trained as a linguist and spy and sent to Berlin during the Cold War years of the late ‘50s and early ‘60s.

Sailor, Airman, Spy, subtitled Memoir of a Cold War Veteran, is the memoir of Ted Hayes from Ballsbridge, Dublin who in the 1950s went to sea at the age of 17, worked on ships that sailed to Waterford, along the coast of Britain and up to the Arctic and Iceland and back. He left the sea and joined the Royal Air Force. He was posted to Scotland and to Northern Ireland.

Ted tells light-heartedly of his time going to school in Dublin city centre, his growing up, his first jobs, his near-death experiences at sea and on ground, trying to get back to Dublin, how he was trained as a linguist and spy and sent to Berlin during the Cold War years of the late ‘50s and early ‘60s. He talks about falling in love and marrying his childhood sweetheart, Annette. He tells also of a spiritual guidance and how his values and disciplines carried him through life.
