This new edition of Sgealta Mhuintir Luinigh / Munterloney Folktales comes with full English translation by Seosamh Watson, former Professor of Modern Irish at University College Dublin.

Sgealta Mhuintir Luinigh / Munterloney Folktales is a unique compendium of Tyrone lore in the Irish language including folktales, legends, songs, proverbs, riddles, charms, toasts and accounts of various calendar and other folk customs.

Most of the material in this book was collected in Mid and North Tyrone by Éamonn Ó Tuathail, Proffesor of Irish at Trinity College Dublin between 1929 and 1932. His main source was Eoin Ó Cianáin, a native of the townland of Formaoil (Formil) in the parish of Both Domhnaigh (Badoney) and subsequentlyb a resident of Creggan in the adjacent parish of Tearmann Mhig Uirc (Termonnmaguirk).
