Francis Libermann was the founder of the renowned Congregation of the Holy Spirit, which spearheaded mission work in Africa and a missionary movement in the church.

The son of a Rabbi from France, Libermann became a Catholic at the age of 24. When epilepsy excluded him from the priesthood, he was called by the plight of slaves to an apostolate in the French colonies.

In this book we have the results of an examination of the numerous letters and memoranda of a shrewd and tactful negotiator, a contemplative and renowned spiritual director, and a true apostle of Africa.
