Coco by name. Cautious by nature. If she is to live up to her name, Coco Swan needs a hell of a wake-up call.

Reprinting under consideration

Meet Coco. Coco Swan. Smalltown antiques dealer and lover of the quiet life. And definitely not the intriguing creature her mother must have hoped for when she named her after the glamorous designer. But that was her late mother - dreamy and impractical to the core. Down-to-earth as she may be, Coco is deeply moved when she discovers a beautiful old Chanel bag in a consignment of otherwise useless bric-a-brac.

Somehow it feels like a gift from her Francophile mother. But when she finds a letter in the lining of the bag - a letter written by the young woman who once owned it - Coco realizes that whatever sentimental meaning the bag has for her, it could be life changingfor somebody else. Almost despite herself, cautious Coco turns detective. The trail leads her to a heartbreaking story of love and loss and she finds herself in the middle of an emotional drama stretching over three generations. But in recognising the high price others have paid for their choices, Coco is forced to face up to some difficult truths about her own past.

Perhaps the bag is a message from her mother after all, her way of showing Coco that she must not be frightened of where her heart will take her if she lets it lead the way . . .
