An intriguing, scholarly, entertaining mixture of architectural history, archaeology, local history, folklore, gossip and commentary.

Buildings of County Antrim represents a personal selection of some of the more important or interesting buildings within the boundaries of the old county of Antrim (excluding, of course, Belfast). Its span includes anything erected by human agency: from a holestone to an obelisk, from a dolmen to a rope bridge, from a tombstone to a windfarm. Each entry is illustrated by at least one photograph, the great majority taken by Michael O’Connell.

Whilst the book deals with all the grandest houses in the county; it deals also with many middling and small houses - and not only the houses themselves but also with the people who lived inside of them. Castles, churches, chapels, bridges, lighthouses and monuments are all represented.
