A critical edition of one of the earliest surviving Irish tales with introduction, notes (each section concluding with an English translation), bibliography and vocabulary.

The extensive 119-page introduction begins with a discussion of manuscripts and the relationship between them, language, date and editorial method. It concludes with a more general discussion (pp. 47-119) of previous scholarship and the literary significance of ‘Connlae’s Expedition’ and the closely related ‘Bran’s Voyage’ (Immram Brain) in the context of the late seventh-century beginnings of written Irish narrative.
