The riveting story about an Irish boy soldier, who leaves his Waterford home to fight in the First World War, at the age of fourteen

Age 14 is based on a true story of a young Irish lad from Waterford who, pretending to be his older brother, set off to enlist in the British Army. What starts as an adventure, an escape from an impoverished life leads Patrick Condon into the reality of war and ultimately to his death.

The author, Geert Spillebeen, discovered the inscription on his grave, 'Age 14', on a First World War gravestone in Flanders, which led him to research and finally write a fictional account of his story.
