This book paints a picture of Comber, County Down, home town of Thomas Andrews Junior, shipbuilder, during the thirty-nine years of his short buy influential life (1873 - 1912).

Thomas Andrews was one of the most iconic personalities A modest man and relatively unknown, who had a major association with RMS Titanic being the Chief Engineer in what was then the largest shipyard in the world, Harland and Wolff.

Many of the inhabitants of Comber woreked in thye shipyard and celebrated the launch of the Titanic on the 31st of May 1911. This book describes soemthing of the impact on the town and on the Andrews family of the tragic events of the following year. It is also a social history of the town of Comber, giving information on the Andrews family industries, the businesses, schools, churches and organisations in the town.

It chronicles local events between 1873 and 1912, and relates them to key world events at the time.
